DESCRIPTION
Alemow or Macrohpylla (Citrus macrophylla) is one of the most ornamental and cold tollerant Citrus of our collection.

ORIGIN

We still don’t know its origin. It probably originates from US, but it’s a particular ancient variety.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is highly compact in shape, with strong thorny branches which lignify quickly.
-Leaves: Leaves are usually lanceolate to slightly bilobate, bright green in colour.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is usually round-shaped to slightly oval.
-Flavour: It’s acid bitter inside. Skin has a medium aroma.
-Colour: It’s light yellow to deep yellow outside according to the harvesting time.
Pulp is usually light yellow and seedy.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It’s a 4 season variety. So it can basically produce fruits every seasons of the year.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring, but it can produce flowers in other periods too.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Alemow or Macrophylla can be used just like a classic lemon.
You can squeeze it, or zest it according to your needs in the kitchen.
-Ornamental: It’s one of the most important ornamental plant for its cold tollerance and its vigor.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -12°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
