DESCRIPTION
Blood Vanille Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is one of the most particular oranges in our greenhouse.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin.
It’s probably originated from southern italy, although it’s highly grown in Sardinia.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium and compact in shape.
-Leaves: Leves are lanceolate, extremely dark-green in colour and next from each other.
Internodes infact are very short, that’s why of its compactness.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a round orange in shape, medium in size.
-Flavour: Its flavour is very interesting. Skin is medium in aroma, but pulp is something unique.
This fruit is acidless inside, so there’s no trace of acid content.
-Colour: Orange to deep orange outside, according to climate conditions.
Pulp is usually orange to bright pink in colour.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It usually ripens from Winter to Spring.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Blood Vanille Sweet Orange can be highly used in the kitchen.
Skin can be zested or candied for its aroma, juice can be squeezed and used for its acidless caracter.
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking ornamental plant.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
