DESCRIPTION
Chinotto Sour Orange (Citrus myrtifolia) is the “classic Chinotto” variety from Savona, a ligurian City, Italy.

ORIGIN

As the name suggest, it restrictely comes from Savona, a little italian city in Liguria region.

PLANT

-Tree features: Chinotto Sour Orange is very slow in growth. It is very dark-green in colour.
It’s usually spherical and very compacted in shape.
-Leaves: Leaves are very dark-green in colour, exceptionally flavoured and round in shape.
This plant produces a high ammount of leaves.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is a little round mandarin in shape.
-Flavour: Skin is very aromatic, pulp is a little bit bitter, but extremely fresh in taste.
-Colour: This fruit can be used when it’s still green, or then, when it becomes orange, just like a clementine.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It’s a 4 season variety.
It can produce flowers and fruits almost every season of the year.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring, but flowers can be produced in every season.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: You can use it in a bilion of recipes. The most traditional and classic thing you can do it’s the “chinotto” a typical slightly bitter and refreshing italian drink.
You can also use the fruit to be candied, and marmalades are also amazing!
-Ornamental: This is a very ornamental variety for its colour and its intense aroma.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of – 7°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
