DESCRIPTION
We don’t really know its origin, or what it really is.
We only know it’s a triploid Citron, its fruit is very similar to cocoa, so we named “Cocoa Citron”.
PLANT
-Tree features: Very vigorous plant with long and strong branches, which tend to lignify quicly.
-Leaves: Very big leaves, with a lanceolate shape. There are long and numerous thorns.
FRUIT
-Taste: A sweet albedo, and a little bit sour juice. Skin smells amazing.
-Colour: Yellow to dark yellow depending on ripening.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from mid-November to January depending on climate conditions.
Cocoa Triploid Citron usually blooms during Spring, but we can see flowers also in other period of the year.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: You can zest the yellow skin to produce amazing limoncello.
Albedo (White part) can be used to make delicious salads, or to be candied.
You can also squeeze the juice, and use it like the one of a lemon.
-Ornamental: Plant tends to be so compact, with a spherical shape.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
