DESCRIPTION
Mellarosa Lemon (Citrus limon) is a particular Citrus variety of our collection.

ORIGIN

We still don’t know its origin, but we know it’s been highly grown in Tuscany.
Medici family used to grow this variety in those beautiful gardens, hundreds of years ago!

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is very compact in shape, with short thornless branches.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate to round in shape, medium in size, bright green in colour… and they smell amazing!
Internodes are extremely short, that’s why of its spherical shape.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is similar to a furrowed round lemon, slightly flattened at the poles in shape.
-Flavour: Skin is so, so, aromatic, intense in flavour, just like a Bergamot. Pulp is a little bit sour but extremely fragrant in taste.
-Colour: Light yellow to deep yellow outside according to the harvesting period. Pulp is usually light yellow.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: Mellarosa Lemon is a 4 season variety. Plants tend to produce fruits every season of the year.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, then it continues during Summer and Autumn.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Fruit can be used in many recipes.
The aromatic skin can be zested or candied (it’s delicious).
Also liquors are something else!

-Ornamental: It’s a nice ornamental variety for its shape and its flavour.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
