DESCRIPTION
Smooth Skin Hanayuzu (Citrus junos) is a particular high quality fruit, very similar to a yuzu in taste and fragrance.
ORIGIN
It is native of Japan, where it’s grown like a classic lemon.
PLANT
-Tree features: branches expand theirself following a falling growth. Long thorny branches can produce a lot of fruits.
-Leaves: medium, lanceolate and dark green leaves, sometimes slightly bilobate.
FRUIT
–Shape: Fruit looks like a small Yuzu in shape. It is round to slightly flattened at the poles
-Taste: It’s juicy and so aromatic in taste, unique, if you like cooking.
There are a lot of big seeds inside.
-Colour: Bright to light yellow depending on the harvesting time.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Smooth skin Hanayuzu starts to ripen from September to November about. The usual harvesting period is when the fruit is still green.
It usually blooms during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: You can zest your fruit on a raw fish. Believe me, it gives an amazing aroma!
You can also squeeze it to marinate fish and meat. Also marmalades are great!
-Ornamental: it’s a beautiful, cold resistent variety.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
