DESCRIPTION
Variegated Volkamer Lemon (Citrus volkameriana foliis variegatis) is a cold resistent Citrus variety in our collection.
PLANT
-Tree features: It’s a compact and thorny plant with a spherical shape.
-Leaves: Lanceolate, variegated in colours (Yellow, to green, to dark-green colours) leaves.
FRUIT
–Shape: This is a classic lemon in shape and size.
-Taste: It tastes a little bit acid but refreshing.
Seeds can be found inside.
-Colour: Fruit is variegated at first, with 3 different colours (Dark-green, green and yellow). Then it becomes light yellow when completely ripened.
Light yellow inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Variegated Volkamer Lemon is a 4 season variety. It produces fruits during different seasons of the year.
It usually blooms during spring time, but flowers can be produced in other seasons too.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: You can squeeze it just like a lemon, adding it to fish and meat.
You can also zest it to give a special lemon flavour.
-Ornamental: Its colour is amazing, especially when there are fruits and flowers on it.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
