DESCRIPTION
Blood Lime, also called red centre or australian red lime is a particular citrus of our collection.
ORIGIN
It comes from Australia.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is very bushy in shape, usually spherical in size.
-Leaves: Leaves are quite round to oval in shape, very very little in size.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a little oval to obovoidal red lime, just like a walnut in size.
-Flavour: Very aromatic inside, it tends to have small vesicles, just like the finger lime, also called caviar lime.
-Colour: Skin is usually brown to black-blood-red in colour.
Pulp is yellow at first, then it becomes red-darker inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It usually ripens from January to March according to climate conditions.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring. Flowers are white-purplish and very scented.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Blood Lime can be used just like any other classic lime in the kitchen. It’s very good with fish and meat, but also squeezed on everything!
-Ornamental: It’s a very pretty nice looking plant, with a high ornamental value.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of – 6°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
