DESCRIPTION
Blida Mandarin (Citrus reticulata) is a sweet early ripening Citrus variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is compact-spherical in shape, with short internodes, and just a few thorns.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate, bright green in colour, and very aromatic.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is the “classic mandarin”. It can be round-shaped to slightly flattened.
-Flavour: It’s a very sweet and intense mandarin variety. It’ s also usually seedless.
-Colour: Bright orange to deep orange outside, according to the harvesting time.
Pulp is bright orange in colour.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: Blida Mandarin is a early variety. It starts to produce from October-November.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: As an aromatic mandarin, it can be used in different ways.
You can squeeze it, eat it like a classic mandarin, zest it to give fish a refreshing and aromatic taste.
Liquors, marmalades, ice creams are exceptional with it!
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking Citrus variety because of its shape and its colour.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -7°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
