Mandalate (Citrus reticulata)
DESCRIPTION
Mandalate (Citrus reticulata) is a particular late mandarin variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
It probably comes from Spain, where it’s highly grown for its late attitude.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, with long and sometimes thorny branches.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate in shape, medium big in size.
Colour is dark-green.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is usually medium in size and tends to be flattened at the poles.
-Flavour: Mandalate is a sweet and juicy variety. Skin is quite aromatic
-Colour: It’s bright orange to deep orange in colour depending on the harvesting time.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: This is a late variety. It starts to produce during Winter, then fruits hold well on the trees.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time. Flowers are white and very fragrant.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: It can be used just like a classic mandarin.
So you can squeeze it, eat it piece after piece, or zest it according to your needs!
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful ornamental plants because of its shape and its late tendency
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -7°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
