Blood Corrugated Orange (Citrus sinensis) is a unique orange variety of our collection.
We still don’t know its origin at the moment, it probably comes from Southern Italy.
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, with long and sometimes falling branches (typical of the blood orange).
-Leaves: Leaves are medium-big in size, lanceolate in shape and bright green in colour.
-Shape: Fruit is usually round shaped, and has those typical ribs on the skin.
-Flavour: Skin is medium in aroma, pulp is highly juicy and sweet, with a bloody aftertaste.
-Colour: Orange to red-orange outside, red-orange inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to produce fruits during winter. Sometimes fruit can hold well on the tree for several months.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Blood Corrugated Orange can be used in the kitchen, just like any other orange.
You can squeeze it to make amazing orange juices, or simply using it to prepare marmalades, salads, liquors, cakes!
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful ornamental vareity for its particular shape.
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
