Tarocco Scirè Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is a particular and traditional Citrus variety we have in our collection.
It comes from southern Italy.
-Tree features: Long vigorous and slightly falling branches. Sometimes thorns can be found.
-Leaves: Big lanceolate to round shaped leaves, bright green in colour.
–Shape: It’s usually round shaped.
-Taste: It’s a very sweet orange. Pulp is fleshy and aromatic.
-Colour: orange to deep orange outside, depending on the harvesting time.
Pulp is usually orange, but can become bloody pigmented according to the climate and the rootstock.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from January to March about.
It usually blooms during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Tarocco Scirè Sweet Orange can be used to make delicious and bloody tasted juices.
It can be zested to make cakes, liquors and different kind of desserts too.
-Ornamental: It grows very particular, with long branches which produce fruits.
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a classic Lemon.
