DESCRIPTION
Swingle Citrumelo (trifoliate Orange x Citrus paradisi) is a particular cold tollerant Citrus variety coming from a cross between a Trifoliate resistent Orange, and a Grapefruit. 
It’s also used as a rootstock.

ORIGIN
It seems to originate from California, US.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is so vigorous in growth! Big branches grow very fast and strong.
It’ s usually a little bit thorny.
-Leaves: Leaves are typically “trifoliate” as the Poncirus ones, bright green in colour and bigger.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is a medium pear-shaped wild lemon.
-Flavour: Skin is medium in aroma, juice is acid and very seedy.
-Colour: Light yellow to deep yellow outside, according to climate conditions.
Pulp is usually light yellow in colour.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It usually starts to ripen from November to Spring according to climate conditions.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: We’ve never tried it in the kitchen, but we think it can be used just like a classic lemon.
-Ornamental: It’s one of the most important Citrus ornamental variety because of its vigour and its cold tollerance.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -12°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
