DESCRIPTION
Vanilla Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is an Italian Citrus variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin at the moment.
We do know it’s highly grown in Sardinia (Italian island) and Southern Italy,
so it has probably italian origins.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, and compact in shape.
-Leaves: Leaves are bright green in colour, lanceolate in shape, medium in size.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a round to slightly oval orange in shape, medium-small in size.
-Flavour: This is probably the sweetest orange of our collection. There’s no acid content at all!
-Colour: Orange to bright orange outside, light orange inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from Winter to Spring time, depending on flowering time.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Fruit can be squeezed for its amazing sweetness.
You can eat it , and also zest it according to your needs in the kitchen.
-Ornamental: It’s a nice ornamental choice.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
