DESCRIPTION
Washington Navel Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is one of the best high quality and traditional oranges of our collection.
ORIGIN
It probably comes from the US, but it’s currently grown all over the World for its high quality and sweetness.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is very compact and spherical in shape.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate, medium-small in size and extremely dark-green in colour.
It’s one of the best orange plant for its shape and its colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a medium orange in size, round to slightly oval in shape.
-Flavour: Pulp is very juicy, usually seedless and very sweet! Skin has a good aroma.
-Colour: Orange to deep orange outside, bright orange inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: Washington Navel Sweet Orange starts to ripen during November-December: It’s a early orange variety.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Fruit can be highly used in the kitchen.
Skin can be candied or zested giving your food a special refreshing and aromatic flavour.
As one of the most juicy and sweet oranges, it can be used to make desserts, cakes, liquors, marmalades, salads.
-Ornamental: It’s one of the best ornamental variety for its intense colour and its spherical shape.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
