DESCRIPTION
Yellow Finger Lime (Microcitrus australasica) is a particular “caviar lime” of our collection.
ORIGIN
It comes from Australia, more precisely from the Queensland region, where it’s highly grown
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant has a typical “shrub” growth, with long branches growing lateral and small thorns.
-Leaves: Leaves are small, lanceolate, dark-green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: as the name suggests, the fruit has a “finger-like” shape.
-Flavour: The flavour of the Yellow Fingerlime is very similar to a classic lemon, in therms of colour and flavour.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: Fruits are usually ready from September to December about.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: This unique caviar lime can be used in many ways in the kitchen. The little vesicles inside give to high quality dishes a unique colour, crunchiness and aroma.
You can prepare amazing seafood cruditès, but also salads, and unique desserts with it.
-Ornamental: For it’s particular shape it’s a nice looking ornamental plant.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -4°C, but if properly covered it can be hardier.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
