Manao Lemon (Citrus limon)
DESCRIPTION
Manao Lemon (Citrus limon) is a particular, unique and rare variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
It comes from Southern Asia, where it’s been grown and used for hundreds of years just like a classic lemon.
Thailand is one of the main producers, Thai people, infact, use to call it “manao”. We still don’t know if it’s a way to call citrus, or a special variety.
PLANT
But we know this is a special and different variety!
-Tree features: Plants has a good vigour, with long and green branches.
-Leaves: Leaves are very lanceolate in shape, similar to the citron ones, green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a big lemon, oval to oblate in shape.
-Flavour: Skin is crunchy and very sweet, pulp is acidless than the lemon one, and it’s usually seedy.
-Colour: Deep yellow outside when fully ripened, green yellowish inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It basically produces flowers every season of the year!
So plants can produce fruits and flowers from Winter to Autumn.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Manao Lemon can be used in different ways in the kitchen:
we can candy its skin, but also slice it to make amazing liquors and cakes.
It’s also amazing on salads!
-Ornamental: It has a good ornamental value.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of – 8°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
