DESCRIPTION
Oval Kumquat or Nagami (Fortunella margarita) is the classic Chinese mandarin we all know!
This species is the Naga or Nagami kinkan of Japan.

ORIGIN

We still don’t know its origin at the moment.
It probably comes from China or Japan, and it’s highly grown in Asia.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is very compact-spherical in shape, and usually thornless.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate, bright green in colour, medium-small in size and long in shape.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is the classic Kumquat: slightly oval, small in size.
-Flavour: You can actually eat the whole fruit, is so sweet and delicious!
It is also seedy.
-Colour: Orange to deep orange outside, light orange inside.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: Oval Kumquat or Nagami starts to produce fruits from November to Spring.
It usually starts to bloom from may to September, following a cyclical flowering.
Flowers are white and extremely fragrant.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Fruit is amazing in cooking recipes.
You can eat it whole, or use it to be candied, to make delicious marmalades, amazing cakes and sauces.
-Ornamental: it’s also a nice ornamental choice for its compactness and its colour.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
