DESCRIPTION
Cleopatra Mandarin (Citrus reshni) is a particular cold resistent variety of our collection.
It’s also called chota or Billi Kichili in India, or Cleopatra in the US.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin, it’s an ancient variety.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is usually compact-spherical in shape. Only sometimes it can be a little bit thorny.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate to round-shaped, bright green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a classic mandarin in shape. Sometimes it can be a little bit flattened at the poles.
-Flavour: The flesh texture is soft, seedy, juicy and the flavor is somewhat acid.
-Colour: It’s bright orange outside, light orange inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It’s a 4 season variety, so it tends to produce fruits different times during a year.
Fruits hold exceptionally well on the tree.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring. Sometimes flowers can be produced in other seasons of the year.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Cleopatra Mandarin can be used just like a classic mandarin.
So you can zest it, or squeeze it according to your needs.
-Ornamental: It’s a great ornamental choice, for its cold tollerance and its tendency to produce fruits and flowers.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
