Nucellar Tarocco Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis)

DESCRIPTION
Nucellar Tarocco Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is a particular high quality orange variety of our collection.

ORIGIN

It seems to originate from Southern Italy, Sicily region, where it’s been highly grown for years.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is medium-high in vigour, with long, sometimes thorny and falling branches.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate to round-shaped, medium-big in size and bright green in colour.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is a classic Orange in shape and size.
-Flavour: Pulp is fleshy, sweet and usually seedless. Skin has a good aroma.
-Colour: This fruit can be orange to red-pigmented according to climate conditions during Winter.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from January to March according to the flowering time.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Nucellar Tarocco Sweet Orange can be highly used in the kitchen, just like any other orange variety.
Pulp can be squeezed to produce marmalades, sauces, salads and obviously high quality orange juices.
Skin can be zested or candied.
-Ornamental: It’s a good ornamental choice.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
