DESCRIPTION
Tarocco Sciara Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is a particular orange variety.
Its name comes from italian volcanoes. “Sciara” is an iportant clue.

ORIGIN
It probably comes from Sicily, where it’s highly grown for its tendency to become a little bit bloody inside.

PLANT
-Tree features: Very vigorous plant, with long, sometimes thorny and falling branches.
-Leaves: Big, lanceolate to round-shaped leaves, bright green in colour.

FRUIT
Shape: Fruit is usually round in shape.
-Taste: It’s a sweet orange. Sometimes you can taste a typical bloody flavour too. It’s usually seedless.
-Colour: Orange to bloody orange depending on the climate and the rootstocks.
Pulp can be orange to red-pigmented too.

SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from March to May, depending on climate conditions.
It usually blooms during Spring.

HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Tarocco Sciara Sweet Orange is a great choice to make delicious bloody juices.
It’s also good to be zested, to make marmalades and particular cakes.
-Ornamental: It has a particular “growing style”. Long falling branches can produce many fruits.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.

This variety needs to be grown like a classic Lemon.
