Curly Citron (Citrus medica)

DESCRIPTION
Curly Citron (Citrus medica) is a particular variety of our collection.

ORIGIN

It comes from Southern Italy, Sicily, where it’s been found on the slopes of Etna Volcano.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plants is medium in vigour, with strong branches which tends to lignify quickly.
Sometimes little thorns can be found too.
-Leaves: Leaves are usually round shape, extremely dark-green in colour and medium-big in size.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is a round, rough big Citron.
-Flavour: Fruit has great organoleptic features. Skin is aromatic and intense in flavour. Pulp is refreshing in taste.
-Colour: Light yellow to deep yellow outside, light yellow inside.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from December to Spring depending on flowering time.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Curly Citron can be highly used in the kitchen.
Skin can be candied (It’s amazing) and also zested according to your needs!
You can give your recipes an amazing refreshing flavour.
-Ornamental: it’s a nice ornamental variety for its shape and its fruit.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
