DESCRIPTION
Variegated Giant Lemon Citron (Citrus limonimedica foliis variegatis) is a hybrid between a lemon and a Citron.

ORIGIN

We still don’t know its origin.
It probably comes from Italy, and derives from a mutation of a classic Giant Lemon Citron.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, with long branches which tends to lignify quickly. Sometimes a few thorns can be found.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate, variegated in colour, medium-big in size.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is a Giant Lemon. It seems like a Citron in size and shape.
-Flavour: Skin is aromatic, intense in taste. Pulp is juicy, seedy and refreshing in flavour.
-Colour: Fruit can be light yellow to deep yellow according to climate conditions and the harvesting time.
Pulp is usually light yellow.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from November to Spring.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: This Variegated Giant Lemon Citron can be used in a milion of ways in the kitchen.
Skin can be candied or zested, to make amazing cakes, liquors and marmalades. Juice can be squeezed to marinate fish and meat!
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful ornamental variety because of its variegated colour and its shape.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -4°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
