Variegated Late Valencia Orange (Citrus sinensis)

DESCRIPTION
Variegated Late Valencia Orange (Citrus sinensis) is a very particular Citrus variety in our greenhouse.

ORIGIN

We still don’t know its origin.
As the classic Valencia comes from Spain, we think the variegated one probably originates from a mutation of a plant.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is low in vigour, very compact in shape.
-Leaves: Leaves are extremely variegated in 2-3 different colours, lanceolate and medium in shape.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is round-shaped and medium-small in size.
-Flavour: Pulp is sweet and juicy, with just a few seeds in it. Skin has a good aroma.
-Colour: Fruit is variegated at first, then it becomes light yellow when fully ripened.
It’s light yellow inside.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen during Summer, but fruits can hold exceptionally well on trees.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Variegated Late Valencia Orange can be highly used in the Kitchen, just like any other orange.
Skin can be zested, juice squeezed according to your needs.
You can make amazing summer salads, drinks and fresh juices with it.
-Ornamental: For its particular colour, it’s a good ornamental choice.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
