Bitter Orange x Grapefruit (Citrus aurantium x Citrus paradisi) is a cold resistent Citrus variety.
PLANT
-Tree features: It’s a vigorous variety, branches lignify quickly.
-Leaves: Leaves are big and round shaped. Veining are visible.
FRUIT
–Shape: Bitter Orange x Grapefruit is round to oblate depending on the growth.
-Taste: Bitter with a orange base note.
-Colour: Green- Orange to deep orange depending on the time of harvesting.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from November to February. However, we can see fruits almost every season of the year.
It usually blooms during Spring, but flowers can be found more often.
That’s why it’s considered a 4 season variety.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen:You can make good marmalades, or use the skin to make sweet candied.
Also zests are a choice.
-Ornamental: It’s a 4 season variety, so it’s always full of flowers and fruits.
It’s a beautiful plant also because of its dark green colour.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
