DESCRIPTION
Boquet de Nice Double Flower Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium) is one of the most particular Bitter Oranges known.
PLANT
-Tree features: It’s really vigorous, there are thorns. It tends to be spherical in shape.
-Leaves: Leaves are dark-green, lanceolate to round shaped, and sometimes they can also produce double leaves.
FRUIT
–Shape: Not too big, spheroidal, slightly flattened at the poles.
-Taste: Bitter inside, very fragrant the skin.
-Colour: orange to deep orange outside, according to the time of harvesting.
Pulp is usually light orange.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from November to February. However we can see fruits in other periods of the year.
It usually blooms during Spring, but flowers can be found almost every season of the year.
Flowers can be double! They are white and fragrant.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: As a Bitter Orange, also the Boquet de Nice Double flower Bitter Orange can be used to make marmalades.
Great also to make liquors.
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful, fragrant and vigorous plant.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -12°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
