DESCRIPTION
Safor Mandarin (Citrus reticulata) is a particular variety in our Citrus list.
PLANT
-Tree features: Compact and spherical in shape.
Sometimes thorns can be found.
-Leaves: Lanceolate leaves in shape, dark-green in colour.
FRUIT
–Shape: Round to slightly flattened at the poles fruit.
-Taste: It tastes sweet, with a medium ammount of juice, and a little sour aftertaste.
Sometimes seeds can be found inside.
-Colour: Orange to deep orange depending on harvesting time.
Safor Mandarin is light orange inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from December to January about, but it can holds well on the tree.
It usually blooms during Spring time. Flowers are white and intense in fragrance.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: You can squeeze it like a classic orange, or eat it like a mandarin.
Also Zested, to make salads or marmalades!
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking plant, especially with flowers and fruits on it.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
