Weikiwa Tangelo (Citrus reticulata x Citrus paradisi)

DESCRIPTION
Weikiwa Tangelo (Citrus reticulata x Citrus paradisi) is a hybrid between a Mandarin and a Grapefruit.

PLANT
-Tree features: Compact to its spherical shape, and the short internodes. It grows more like a Grapefruit than a Mandarin.
-Leaves: Leaves resembles those of the Grapefruit, dark green, round oblade, with a tendency to produce double leaves too.

FRUIT
-Taste: Very sweet, it tastes like a sweet Grapefruit.
Sometimes seeds can be found, but it’s not easy.

-Colour: Light yellow to yellow outside, light yellow inside.
Pulp is very fleshy.

SEASON OF RIPENESS
Weikiwa Tangelo starts to ripen from October to December, depending on climate conditions.

It usually blooms during Spring.

HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen:You can eat it like a orange, because of its sweetness, or squeez it like a grapefruit.
Zest can be used too.
-Ornamental: It’s a pretty nice plant, compact and nice looking, especially with flowers and fruits.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C

This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
