Orangelo (Citrus paradisi x Citrus sinensis)

DESCRIPTION
Orangelo (Citrus paradisi x Citrus sinensis) is considered to be a hybrid between a Grapefruit and a sweet Orange.

PLANT
-Tree features: Plant has a high posture, with long strong branches, which lignify quickly as a Pomelo.
-Leaves: Dark-green leaves are big, long and lanceolate.

FRUIT
Shape: Fruit can become really big (usually up to 1kg, but sometimes it can be more than 3kg), and extremely flattened at the poles.
-Taste: Its taste is similar to a Grapefruit, maybe a little bit more sweet.
-Colour: skin light yellow to yellow coloured, pulp is so fleshy and pink in colour.

SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from November to February about, depending on climate conditions.
It usually blooms during Spring. Flowers are white and give off an intense fragrant.

HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: You can cut the pulp into pieces and make a coloured and fragrant Orangelo salad.
You can also eat it like a Pomelo. Skin can be candied too.
-Ornamental: It’s a highly vigorous plant, and those big fruits make it one of the biggest and most impressive Citrus.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.

This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
