DESCRIPTION
Pescia Big Lemon (Citrus limon) is a high quality lemon variety in our collection.
It’s also called African Lemon.
PLANT
-Tree features: It’s a vigorous plant, with long branches, similar to those of the Citrons in growth.
Branches tend to lignify quickly.
-Leaves: Big lanceolate leaves, dark-green in colour.
FRUIT
–Shape: Oval to oblate in shape, it’s bigger than a classic Lemon.
-Taste: It tastes aromatic and refreshing. It’s a good quality lemon.
-Colour: Bright Yellow to deep yellow depending on the harvesting time.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Pescia Big Lemon starts to ripen from November to Spring, depending on the blooming period.
It usually blooms during winter. However, flowers can be produced in other seasons.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: It’s highly interesting and versatile in the kitchen. You can zest the aromatic yellow skin to produce amazing limoncello.
It can be used to make salads, or added to fish, meat, vegetables. Juice can be squeezed like the one of a classic lemon.
-Ornamental: It’s a vigorous strong plant with big fruits and fragrant flowers.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
