DESCRIPTION
Maxima Citron (Citrus medica) is one of the biggest Citrus variety of the World.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin at the moment.
We do know it’s highly grown in Southern Italy.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is so vigorous in shape, with long branches which tend to lignify quickly.
-Leaves: leaves are big in size, lanceolate to round-shaped, and dark green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a big giant Citron in size and shape (it can be more than 2kg!)
-Flavour: Skin is very aromatic, and a little bit bitter in taste. Pulp is acid but so refreshing.
-Colour: Light yellow to yellow outside, light yellow inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: This is a 4 season Citrus variety, it produces fruit more than once in a year.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, then it continues during Summer and Autumn also.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Maxima Citron can be highly used in the kitchen!
Skin can be zested or also candied (it’s delicious) to make amazing cakes and liquors.
Pulp can be used just lik a lemon ones, to give your drinks and food a special refreshing flavour.
Marmalades are also a great choice!
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful ornamental plant for its giant Citron and its colour.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
