Navelate Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis)

DESCRIPTION
Navelate Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is considered to be a particular late ripening variety.

ORIGIN
It comes from Spain, where it’s highly grown for its late fruiting tendency.

PLANT
-Tree features: It’s a compact, spherical shaped plant. Branches are sometimes a little bit thorny.
-Leaves: Lanceolate, extremely dark-green leaves, tend to be close to each other.

FRUIT
Shape: Fruit is usually round-shaped.
-Taste: It tastes so sweet and juicy. Skin is aromatic too.
-Colour: Orange to deep orange outside, depending on the harvesting time.
Bright orange inside.

SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from March to June.
It usually blooms during Spring. Flowers are white and very fragrant.

HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: You can obviously squeeze it just like a classic orange.
Also it can be zested to make desserts. Navelate Sweet Orange is also a great choice to make marmalades and liquors.
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking plant, for its dark-green colour and its tendency to produce late fruits.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.

This variety needs to be grown like a classic Lemon.
