Oblong Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis)

DESCRIPTION
Oblong Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is a particular citrus variety of our collection.

ORIGIN

We still don’t know its origin at the moment, it probably comes from Southern Italy

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, similar o a Washington Navel Orange in growth.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate in shape, dark-green in colour, medium in size.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is traditionally “oval”, “oblong” as the name suggest, and it’s medium in size.
-Flavour: Skin is medium intense in flavour, pulp is juicy and usually seedless.
-Colour: Light orange to bright orange outside, light orange inside.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to produce fruits during Winter, but oranges hold well on the tree for several months.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Oblong Sweet Orange can be used just like any other oranges in the kitchen!
You can obviously eat the fruit piece after piece, or use it to make delicious salads, cakes, marmalades and liquors.
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking ornamental plant for its particular fruit.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
