Sweet Lemon (Citrus limon)
DESCRIPTION
Sweet Lemon (Citrus limon) is a different lemon variety found in our collection.
You should already know how sour the lemon is! Well, this variety is acidless!
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin at the moment,
it probably comes from Italy, southern Italy.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is very similar to a classic lemon in growth and shape. Maybe it’s just a little bit more thorny.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate, bright green in colour, medium in size.
FRUIT
-Shape: Sweet Lemon is a medium variety in shape and size. Skin is a little bit thicker.
-Flavour: Pulp is very juicy and usually seedless. Obviously, as the name suggest it’s a “Sweet Lemon”, so there’s no acid content at all!
-Colour: Bright yellow to Deep yellow outside. Light yellow inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from December to Spring according to flowering time.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, however flowers can be seen in other seasons too!
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: This fruit can be used in the kitchen just like any other classic lemon.
So you can squeeze the sweet juice, or zest the skin according to your needs!
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking plant.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
