DESCRIPTION
Rough Lemon cv. Limoneira (Citrus jahmbiri) is one of the most cold resistent Citrus of our collection.
Highly used as a rootstock for its strong and cold resistent features.
PLANT
-Tree features: Medium vigorous, with a dense and highly thorny fooliage.
-Leaves: Lanceolate, to bilobate , dark-green in colour.
FRUIT
–Shape: Fruit, as the name suggest, is a “Rough Lemon”. Very similar to a classic lemon in size and shape.
-Taste: It tastes a little bit acid/bitter inside, with a few seeds sometimes. Skin has a lemon aroma.
-Colour: Light yellow to deep yellow depending on the harvesting time.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
It tends to be a 4 season variety. It can produce fruits several times during the year.
It usually blooms during spring. White-purple flowers, which can be seen during other seasons of the year also.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: You can zest it or squeeze it like a classic lemon.
-Ornamental: High ornamental value because of its cold and bad substrates tollerance.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
