4 Season Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis)
DESCRIPTION
4 Season Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is a unique Citrus variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin at the moment,
it probably comes from Southern Italy.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, very similar to a Washington Navel Orange in size and compactness.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate, dark-green in colour, medium in size.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a medium round shaped orange.
-Flavour: Pulp is very sweet and juicy. It is usually seedless, but sometimes a few seeds can be found.
-Colour: Orange to bright orange outside, light orange inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to produce fruit from Winter to Spring-Summer according to climate conditions and flowering time.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, but as the name suggest, flowers can be produced in other periods of the year.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: 4 Season Sweet Orange can be used just like any other orange in the kitchen.
You can zest it to make delicious cakes, or use it to prepare salads.
Pulp can be used to make marmalades or simply to give your recipes a good aroma.
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful ornamental variety for its 4 season tendence.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
