Mohtasseb Limette (Citrus limetta)
DESCRIPTION
Mohtasseb Limette (Citrus limetta) is a particular lime variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin at the moment.
PLANT
-Tree features: This is one of the most compact-spherical shaped plant of our Citrus collection. Sometimes it can be a little bit thorny too.
-Leaves: Leaves are usually round-lanceolate in shape, and dark-green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Mohtasseb Limette is a slightly rough lime in size and shape.
-Flavour: juice is acid but more intense than a classic lemon. Skin is aromatic.
-Colour: It’s bright green at first, then it becomes deep yellow.
Pulp is light yellow in colour.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen during Autumn, but fruits can be produced in other seasons of the year too.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, but it can produce flowers in other seasons.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: For its aroma, it can be used in different ways.
Skin can be zested to enrich fish and meat flavours.
It can also be squeezed to marinate.
-Ornamental: It’s a great ornamental choice for its shape, and its colour.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -4°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
