DESCRIPTION
Pink Flower Ichang Papeda (Citrus ichangensis) is a cold tollerant Citrus variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
It probably originates from China.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is usually compact to spherical in shape, and very thorny.
-Leaves: Leaves are dark-green in colour, lanceolate, with a tendency to be bilobate sometimes.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is usually round to slightly oval.
-Flavour: It’s acid/bitter inside, skin is somewhat aromatic.
Big round seeds can be found inside (typical of the ichangensis).
-Colour: Yellow to deep yellow according to the harvesting time.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It usually starts to produce from December to February about.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time. Flowers are pink purplish, extremely fragrant and so big to see.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: We’ve never tried this fruit in the kitchen, but we think they can be used just like a lemon.
-Ornamental: It’s a great ornamental choice, because of the fruits, the dark-green colour and the amazing flowers on it.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
