DESCRIPTION
Florence Citron (Citrus medica) is one of the most ancient and traditional variety.

ORIGIN

We still don’t know its exact origin.
We do know it’s been highly grown by the Medici Family in Florence.
For this reason this is one of the most traditional tuscanian Citron we have in our collection.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, with long and sometimes thorny branches.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate in shape, medium-big in size, and dark green in colour.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is a particular medium-small oblate Citron, with a pointed apex.
-Flavour: Skin is so aromatic in flavour, sweet and crunchy in texture. Pulp is a little bit acid but refreshing in taste.
-Colour: Light yellow to bright yellow outside, light yellow inside.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from Winter to Spring time.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, but flowers can be produced in different times of the year.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Florence Citron can be highly used in the kitchen.
Skin can be candied, and it’s amazing, but also zested to make cakes, desserts, ice creams, or simply giving your recipes a special aroma.
-Ornamental: For its particular shape this is a great ornamental variety.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
