DESCRIPTION
Pink Flower Buddha’s Hand Citron (Citrus medica digitata) is a unique, particular Citrus variety.
ORIGIN
It derives from a very ancient mutation of a Citron.
It comes from Indochina, where it’s been found hundreds of years ago.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is very vigorous, with long branches which tend to lignify quickly.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate to round-shaped, bright green in colour and medium-big in size.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is an amazing human hand! Someone think it actually seems an octopus, others peppers.
Pink Flower Buddha’s Hand Citron has no juice at all, it’s all composed of white albedo inside.
-Flavour: Skin is so aromatic, with a balsamic aftertaste. White albedo is so sweet.
-Colour: Yellow to bright yellow according to climate conditions outside, white inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to produce from mid-November to Spring, and also summer accorrding to the flowering.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, but it also seems to be 4 season: you can see more flowers during Summer and autumn too.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Fruit can be exceptionally used in the kitchen.
Skin can be candied whole and it’s so delicious. You can also zest it to give your fish and meat recipes an amazing flavour.
-Ornamental: For its particular shape, it’s a good ornamental choice.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
