DESCRIPTION
Orange Lemon (Citrus limon) is a particular rare citrus variety in our greenhouse.
It’s also called “Ingannavillano Lemon” for it’s particular shape, which can sometimes confuse.
ORIGIN
It comes from Italy.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, similar to a classic lemon in growth and colour.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate in shape, bright to dark-green in colour and medium in shape.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a medium-big lemon, slightly round-shaped. Sometimes deep orange ribs can be found on the skin.
-Flavour: Fruit is similar to a classic lemon in taste. Skin has a good aroma. Pulp is so juicy, acid-refreshing, with a little “orange aftertaste”.
-Colour: Orange-yellow to deep orange outside.
Pulp is usually light orange in colour.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from Winter to Spring according to climate conditions.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time. Flowers are so fragrant, and can be produced in other periods of the year also!
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Orange Lemon can be used just like any other lemon in the kitchen.
Skin can be candied or zested to aromatize different kind of recipes.
Juice can be squeezed to refresh a glass of water, or to give your recipes a special fresh taste.
-Ornamental: It’s one of the most beautiful ornamental lemon for its particular colour.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
