Red Lemon Citron n. 2 (Citrus limonimedica rubra)

DESCRIPTION
The Red Lemon Citron n.2 (Citrus limonimedica rubra) is the second selection of the hybrid between a lemon and a citron.

ORIGIN

It probably comes from southern Italy.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is very strong in growth, with big branches which tend to lignify quickly.
-Leaves: Leaves are very big in size, usually light green in colour.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is a medium- big oval, to obovoidal lemon in shape.
-Flavour: White albedo tends to be quite sweet in taste, pulp is usually slightly acid inside, just like a classic lemon.
-Colour: Red Lemon Citron n.2 is usually orange to dark yellow outside, the same colour inside.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen in Winter, but we can see fruits in other seasons!
It usually starts to bloom during Spring, but it can produce flowers in the summer and Autumn, due to its 4 season tendency.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: This fruit can be used just like any other lemon in the kitchen. So, great to be squeezed, or sliced, to make cakes, limoncello, pasta, salads!
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking ornamental plant!

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of – 8°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
