Fortune Mandarin (Citrus reticulata)
DESCRIPTION
Fortune Mandarin is one of the most aromatic and classic mandarins of our collection.
ORIGIN
We don’t know exactly about its origin, it probably comes from China, or India.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, light green in colour.
-Leaves:Leaves are small in size, lanceolate in shape, and light green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a small round to slightly flattened at the poles mandarin.
Skin is very thin and aromatic.
-Flavour: This fruit is so fleshy and sweet, but also aromatic just like all classic mandarins. It is seedy inside.
-Colour: Fortune Mandarin is orange to yellowish depending on ripening time.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to produce fruits from Winter , but fruits hold well on trees for several months.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: This fruit can be eaten just like any other mandarin.
You can make amazing marmalades, cakes, desserts, liquors and anything else with it.
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking plant.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of – 8 °C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
