DESCRIPTION
Swiss Orange (Citrus aurantium) is a particular cold tollerant Citrus variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium high in vigour, but compact-spherical in shape.
-Leaves:Leaves are somewhat round-shaped, and extremely dark-green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a round medium bitter orange in size and shape.
-Flavour: It is very juicy, sometimes seedy inside. Skin is very aromatic in flavour.
-Colour: Fruit can be variegated in colour, but also orange, according to climate conditions.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: This is a 4 season Citrus variety. Plants can produce fruits 2-3 times per year.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, but flowers can be produced in different periods.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Swiss Orange can be highly used in the kitchen, just like any bitter orange.
-Ornamental: It’s one of the best ornamental citrus variety for its dark-green colour, and its particular fruit.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -15°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
