DESCRIPTION
Florence Lemon Citron (Citrus limonimedica) is a particular variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
This variety is from ancient origins.
It seems to originate from Florernce, where it’s been highly grown by the “Medici family”.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plants are vigorous, and arbustive in shape.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate to round-shaped, bright green in colour and medium-big in size.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a big long oval Citron, with a thik skin.
-Flavour: Skin (albedo) is so sweet, crunchy and high in quality. Juice is more acid, but extremely refreshing.
-Colour: Yellow to deep yellow outside, light yellow inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to produce from Winter , but fruits hold well on trees for several months.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, however flowers can be produced in different periods of the year.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Florence Lemon Citron can be used in the kitchen to make delicious recipes.
Skin can be candied or zested according to your needs, so you can make cakes, liquors, or simply giving your dishes an amazing aroma.
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful ornamental plant for its fruit and its vigour.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
