DESCRIPTION
Cara Cara Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is one of the best high quality Navel Oranges we have in our collection.
ORIGIN
It derives from a mutation of a Washington Navel Orange discovered in Venezuela.
PLANT
-Tree features: It’s compact and spherical in shape, just like every Navel Orange. Branches grow with a few thorns.
-Leaves: Leaves are usually extremely dark-green, lanceolate and medium in size.
FRUIT
–Shape: Fruit is round in shape.
-Taste: It tastes so good! Pulp is fleshy and so sweet. There’s no seed inside.
-Colour: Orange to deep orange outside, depending on the harvesting time.
Pink to deep-pink inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Cara Cara Sweet Orange starts to ripen from November to January according to climate conditions and rootstocks.
It usually blooms during Spring Time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: There’s a bilion things you can make with it!
You can make marmalades, liquors, amazing and delicious Citrus salads!
Pink orange juices are so refreshing! You can also zest it to make exquisite cakes!
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful coloured ornamental plant, especially before picking them up!
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a classic Lemon.
