Meyer Lemon (Citrus meyerii)

DESCRIPTION
Meyer Lemon (Citrus meyerii) is a high quality lemon variety of our collection.

ORIGIN

Meyer Lemon seems to originate from China, where it’s been discovered by “Frank Meyer”, a US plant explorer.
This variety seems to be an old hybrid between an orange and a lemon.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is medium-slow in vigour, compact in shape.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate, bright green in colour and medium in size.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is an orange medium sized lemon.
-Flavour: Skin is very aromatic: you can taste a particular lemon base, with a orange aromatic aftertaste. Pulp is acid but also intense in flavour.
-Colour: deep yellow to Light orange to orange according to climate conditions.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: This is a 4 season Citrus variety: so it basically produces fruit every season of the year.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring, then it continues during Summer and Autumn also!
Flowers are purplish and very fragrant.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Meyer Lemon is highly famous for being used in Baking.
You can use the skin to be candied (and it’s amazing) or simply zesting it, making delicious cakes and creams.
Liquors, marmalades are a great choice with it.
-Ornamental: it’s a good ornamental choice for its colour and its 4 season tendency

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
