DESCRIPTION
Australian Round Lime 1 (Microcitrus australasica) is a particular lime variety of our collection.
It’s also called Dooja Lime or Gympie Lime
ORIGIN
As the name suggest, it’s from Australia, where it grows wild.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is very compact in shape, with visible little thorns.
-Leaves: Leaves are round in shape, small in size, and extremely dark-green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a little “round, rough lime” in shape, very small in size.
-Flavour: It seems to be an aromatic variety
-Colour: Very green outside, orange-yellow inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from October to February according to climate conditions.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, but sometimes flowers can be discovered during Summer and Autumn also.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Australian Round Lime 1 seems to be a good choice in the Kitchen.
-Ornamental: It’s one of the best ornamental variety, because of its dark-green colour and its compactness.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
