DESCRIPTION
Orange Limette (Citrus limetta) is an ancient lime variety discovered in a simple italian garden.
ORIGIN
It seems to originate from Italy.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, compact to spherical in shape. Sometimes little thorns can be found.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate in shape, bright green in colour and medium in size.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a big yellow-orange Lime, with a typical sharp tip on the apex.
-Flavour: It tastes like a classic lime, with a particular orange aftertaste.
-Colour: Deep Yellow to orange according to the harvesting time.
Pulp is Yellow to light orange.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from January to Summer, according to climate conditions.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, then it can continue during Summer and Autumn also.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Orange Limette can be used just like a classic lime in the kitchen.
So you can squeeze its refreshing juice to marinate fish, meat, or simply adding it to water.
Skin can be used too, candied, or zested according to your needs in the kitchen.
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking ornamental variety because of its 4 season tendency and its bright colour.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
