Lipo (Citrus limon x Citrus paradisi)
DESCRIPTION
Lipo (Citrus limon x Citrus paradisi) is an old hybrid from a Limon and a Grapefruit combined.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin, but it’s a very ancient variety in our collection.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, similar to a Citron in growing.
Branches, which are a little bit thorny, tend to lignify quickly.
-Leaves: Leaves are round-lanceolate in shape, medium big in size, and bright green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is medium-big in size, round to slightly oboval in shape.
-Flavour: Taste is the exact mix between a lemon and a Grapefruit. It’s so juicy and refreshing.
-Colour: Light yellow to deep yellow outside, according to the harvesting time.
Pulp is usually seedy and light yellow in colour.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It tends to be a 4 season variety. So it produces flowers and fruits almost every season of the year.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, Summer time and Autumn too.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Lipo can be highly used in the kitchen.
Skin can be zested or candied for its fragrance.
Juice can be squeezed to marinate fish and meat.
-Ornamental: It’s a nice ornamental plant for its 4 season tendency and it’s fragrance.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
